I heard a piece of music called ‘Jealousy’ by Astor Piazzolla. How can anybody hear that piece without wanting to make music themselves? It made me want to try to evoke the same mood in a song. I was destined to fail in my attempt to write anything nearly as beautiful as Piazzolla’s piece, but nonetheless I like this song. It’s a good one to sit and play on my own; even though it seems like it might be quite miserable, performing it relaxes me. I try to inject some of the pulse of a Piazzolla tango into it.

The instrumental melody that forms the introduction and the middle section did have words at one point, but they over-complicated things and ruined the overall mood. Sometimes I whistle that part, perhaps as a little homage to ‘The Stranger’ by Billy Joel, but when I played it here I just opened my mouth and out came the ‘ladada’.
